Frequently Asked Questions...
Alternative to Anatomy dissection kit?
My Anatomy course requires an anatomy kit, but the professor said we could "piece" the kit apart since the school store kit is expensive. Of course, this isn't an easy task when they don't have regular medical/surgical supplies at regular stores. The professor isn't so picky, but I was wondering what kinds of alternatives there are for certain things. The three things that we need are:
Tissue Forceps
Dissecting scissors
Mall (blunt) probe.
-As strange as it might seem, I've been told that stainless steel tweezers and scissors from the cosmetic section might be fine for dissection (we're dissecting cat), and I also have tweezers (not metal) from a first aid kit I have. It also comes with a finger splint, and I was wondering if it would ok to use to in place of the mall blunt probe? Any suggestions or feedback?
Answer:
You can pick up a lot of dissection tools on the cheap at the hardware store...Harbor Freight has a lot this kind of thing...forceps, needles, scissors, occasionally hemostats...for cheap. Pick up a hobby knife set (substitute for scalpel) and a little magnifying glass while you are there. You will need a larger pair of metal forceps (in anatomy, they are called forceps, not tweezers) for dissecting a cat. Plastic ones probably won't cut it. The mall probe you probably won't find a suitable substitute for, but you can order one for $2 or so from any number of companies online. Ward's Natural Science and Bio Corp sell dissection equipment (links below, good kits for less than $10).

Non Surgical cosmetic surgery
Thinking about non surgical cosmetic surgery? Well, there are a selection of procedures available. You can target your chin, jowls, laugh lines, forehead, dark circles and bags under your eyes or, you can get a whole non surgical face lift.
While most procedures should be performed by a board licensed surgeon or a skin specialist, in some cases, a spa will help you look your finest, and trim decades off your face. Remember that any aggressive process should be done by a doctor. That includes injections of any sort of material into your body.
The different types of non surgical cosmetic procedures should all attain the same goal. Stimulate collagen growth, which will help tighten your skin and get rid of wrinkles. The FDA keeps Yankee standards for wrinkle removal quite high. So there are some treatments that are done in Europe and South America that aren't licensed for particular use in wrinkle removal or fat reduction in the united states.
And, as a caveat, while some procedures are called non surgical, infrequently they should be referred to as minimally invasive. Tiny cuts are needed for procedures like laser liposuction. the cuts for non surgical liposuction are minor in comparison to what's required for regular liposuction or a regular face lift.
the younger you are the better chance all cosmetic non surgical treatments you have will accomplish what they are supposed to do. So having small, relatively cheap'work' done on a regular basis, could be a better investment than in depth surgery.
Finding a surgeon
The way a person looks is very subjective. You need to start off by deciding precisely what you need to improve. When you decide this, you should look for a board certified cosmetic consultant.
girls who have darker skin, have a tendency to scar more easily and can develop keloids, as a consequence. You want to get a doctor who understands your personal skin type and has satisfied patients who are prepared to advocate that you see them. You need to also make sure that the doctor is good at what you need to have done.
You also must understand the hottest non surgical treatments, performed by the most recent piece of equipment on the market, may not be what your cosmetic surgeon recommends. While it could be your face, you are dependent on your health practitioner's talents. If their skill is with an older model of kit, keep in mind that they've performed hundreds, if not thousands of non surgical face lifts using this piece of equipment.
Also let your GP know if you're counting on having future facial cosmetic procedures. Some procedures can't be done if it follows another kind of process. Talk to your health practitioner to be sure there are no conflicts in what you plan.
Avoid doctors who charge a unreasonable amount for a consultation. If a doctor wants to charge you $500 for a'look see' you are at the incorrect place. The majority of your expense should be the cost of the process, not your preliminary visit. Avoid surgical practices that pressure you into procedures that you consider pointless.
Most importantly, make sure your certificated cosmetic surgeon explains the risks concerned in your non surgical face lift.
Insurance and Your Non Surgical Face Lift
Because cosmetic procedures are elective, be prepared for the proven fact that your insurance company will not pay for your nose job or jaw tuck. While non surgical face lifts are cheaper, depending on your process, you might pay 2 to 3 thousand bucks. You are worth each penny of it, but the insurer won't see it this way.
If you have to save up for surgery, putting away approximately 20 dollars a week will permit you to get a non surgical face lift procedure in three years. So if you start saving for this when you're thirty-seven, you can get work done when you are 40.

if you're over the age of thirty-five, you may never look twenty again. good non surgical cosmetic surgery and correct skin maintenance can keep you looking forty, well into your sixties.
Cosmetic procedures are not a cure for depression, body dysmorphic disorder or low self-confidence. A non surgical face lift won't make you into a new person, or absolutely change how you look.
In other words, if you're disappointed with yourself, this won't be the cure.
